![]() ![]() Then the bar thing happened, and then the rest of it. This made him lose his humour, and made him far closer to the more caustic Houser protagonist. Max took to the bottle far more than he did in 2, along with his painkiller addiction which tied into 1's use of them as a health mechanic. Or she lived, but never met Max again - so as far as he is concerned, she died in the Aesir building. ![]() lawsuit? Inheritance? Just drinking a lot? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (probably just drinking a lot) I'm not sure what he would do in this time, but he has a fairly decent house, so. durable than Max, and so things went differently. ![]() Obviously, this means that either the events of Max Payne 2 didn't happen, or they did, but involving a cop less. A few events change in Rockstar's version: So, i think it would make more sense for it to be an alternate universe Max Payne 2, pulling off from the first Max Payne instead of the second. At the same time, I liked MP3, and I don't want to discount it completely. Generally it's agreed that Max, at the end of 2, lied to himself, but, well, I don't want to believe that because that would make one of my favourite endings in games a lie, a mirage - plus, he'd already done it once, between 1 and 2. Which is why Max holding on to that pain at the start of 3 made little sense. He made peace with the death of his family, and even though Mona died, well, it was "all right" (honestly, it's a scene I've still not fully understood). Max's story is, at the end of 2, finally complete. Besides, it's primarily a game series, so I'm going by the games themselves. Bear in mind that I haven't seen any supplemental material like comics, etc, so I am not considering them in this. ![]()
